Why Every LMSD Parent Should Send This Request
See What's Actually Being Collected
Apps like iReady, ClassLink, and Securly collect far more than test scores: browsing histories, login times, device details, geolocation data, and behavioral flags. A FERPA request forces the district to show you all of it.
Expose Predictive Profiles
Ed-tech vendors run analytics that produce predictions about your child's behavior, academic performance, and even career path. Under FERPA, you are entitled to see every score, flag, and model output generated from your child's data.
A Federal Right, Not a Favor
FERPA (20 U.S.C. §1232g) is federal law. The district cannot refuse a valid request or charge you for the search. They have 45 days to respond. If a vendor holds the records, the district must still produce them.
Create a Record of Accountability
When enough parents send requests, the district must document what it holds, where it went, and who can see it. Volume matters. Your request is also your neighbors' request.

How to Send Your Request
Download the Right Template
Use the Standard FERPA template if your child receives general education. Use the Special Ed template (FERPA + IDEA + Section 504) if your child has an IEP or 504 plan.
Fill in the Blanks
Replace [STUDENT NAME], [STUDENT DOB], [LMSD SCHOOL], and [PARENT EMAIL] with your information. Add today's date at the top.
Send to the District
Email to Kimberly Fraser (fraserk@lmsd.org), and optionally your principal. CC Dr. Ranelli and Ruth Novak (Board Secretary).
Wait Up to 45 Days
The district has 45 days to comply under federal law. If they do not respond, or deny access without a valid legal basis, you have the right to file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education.

Standard FERPA
Request
For parents of general education students. Requests all student data collected by 50+ LMSD-contracted ed-tech vendors, including behavioral analytics, predictive scores, and browsing histories.

FERPA + IDEA
Request
For parents of students with an IEP or 504 plan. Invokes FERPA, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and Section 504 for the strongest possible access rights to your child's records.
